April 2026 Our Time out Tuesday groups were enjoyed by those able to attend through Lent. The Lent walks ensured that every church in Barrow was visited and prayed for. The group visited Ramsden Street on March 7th and prayed for our church, for Kate, our leaders and the work we do in our community and with Greengate school. There will be a Maundy Service held on Thursday 2nd April at 7pm at Vickerstown Methodist Church and all are welcome to attend. Please remember there will be no coffee morning on Friday 3rd April as this is Good Friday and there will be a Good Friday morning service at Abbey Road Baptist Church at 10.30am. Again, everyone is welcome to attend. We will, of course, celebrate Easter Day on Sunday 5th April with Easter refreshments followed by our morning service led by Rev Ron Wilson. Our coffee mornings will continue through April and our soup lunch on the 24th April after our prayers for our community. We are arranging dates with the school for the children to come and read and the choir to sing to us so please watch this space for dates, as we will let you know as soon as we can. Due to the school holidays it will be some time after Easter now. The Furness Churches Eco Group are organising another Green Fair in Big Green Week. This will be held on Saturday 6th June at Dalton Community Church so please pop this in your diary and support us if you can. March 2026 Unfortunately we were unable to find a suitable date for the children from Greengate to come and read to us in March. We will continue to try and get a date after Easter, so watch this space! Sadly, the choir are also unable to join us on Friday 20th March as planned, but we will rebook soon. Thanks to all who attended our AGM on Sunday February 22nd. We have made appointments for the year and decided to support Commitment for Life, the Leprosy Mission and the local branch of the Alzheimer's Society as our charities. We have a little money reserved for any emergency appeals that may arise and we will support Christian Aid as usual through out the year. Rev Kate reminded us of all the things we have done over the year and on reflection we might be a small church but we are certainly busy! Looking forward we are thinking about how we can make our presence more noticeable in our community as we work to support those in our neighbourhood. Our Time out Tuesday groups have started again on Tuesdays through Lent. We meet to have some light hearted time with activities, tea and chat and a little Lent reflection. The ecumenical Lent walks are again taking place and details are available at the back of this Around Church.
