Our Harvest supper and service on Friday October 26th was very enjoyable. Pie and peas were served first then the service, led by Jennet, was very much appreciated. Gifts of tinned food have been donated to Furness Homeless support Group and the offering of £150 was for the United Area Christian Aid Project.
The Autumn Fair on November 3rd raised £614 for Church funds. Thank you to everyone who supported this event.
The URC quiz winners were announced at the Fair and the winner was from Kirkby Lonsdale and runner up was from Walney. Entries were received from all over the country – including Somerset, Oxfordshire, London, Isle of Man, Preston and Manchester areas. £306 was raised for Church funds. The correct answers are available if anyone would like them.
We were delighted to have 18 year 3 children come along to read some of their favourite story books to us. Nine volunteers listened to the children and then chatted with them, shared refreshments and listened to the children singing a WW1 song for us before they left. Another year 3 class will come along in the New Year.
The Greengate children are coming to sing for us at our Coffee Morning on Friday December 14th at 10.30am. We will meet in the Church to allow space for the children and possibly some of their parents.
On Friday December 21st we have decided to cancel our Coffee Morning and accept the invitation to attend the Nativity service at Greengate School. This begins at 10am so those who are going need to be there around 9.50am. There will be a Coffee morning as usual on December 28th.
Our own Carol Service will be held on Sunday December 23rd at 2.30pm. This will be led by Jennet and will be followed by afternoon tea.
The chosen charity to make donations in lieu of sending each other Christmas cards this year is 'Help the Heroes'.
The Church AGM will be held after the Communion Service on Sunday February 10th 2019.
