Book presentation to Greengate School
We were fortunate to be successful for a Speaking Volumes Grant. The scheme provides funding to purchase christian books for use in churches or libraries. The grant allowed us to choose suitable books for Greengate junior school which we presented to them at a school assembly. This is what Greengate School published on their face book page.

"During Wednesday's assembly we were delighted to welcome Heather and Anne from Ramsden Street United Reformed Church. We have always had fantastic links with the church including our choir regularly singing there and the Church allowing our year 4 children to take part in their yearly 'Flashbacks' projects.

As a result of these close links the Church very kindly applied for a grant from the 'Speaking Volumes Christian Book Promotion Trust'. The bid was successful and Heather and Anne came to our assembly to present the books which will be a fabulous addition to our library. We are extremely grateful for the books and we know the children will enjoy reading them and taking on board all of the messages inside them."

Greengate Junior School

July 2018 and August 2018
Please remember that there are no Wednesday mid week meetings or lunches during July and August. There will be a lunch on Wednesday September 5th and the meetings begin again on September 12th. Friday coffee mornings will be held each week through this period and, of course, Sunday Services each week too.

Our Strawberry Tea was a very happy occasion on Wednesday June 27th. It was lovely to have some friends from St George’s join us. The sale of tickets and the profits from the various stalls raised £244 for Church funds. Thank you to everyone who helped – especially the bakers of those lovely cakes!

The books we are to present to Greengate School have now arrived and there will be an opportunity for everyone to see them on Sunday July 1st between the Communion Service and the Family Service. The books will be presented to the school on Wednesday July 4th.

On Friday August 31st there is to be a welcome service for Zena Smith, the new Methodist Minister coming to work in our United Area. This will be held at the Dalton Community Church (in the Wellington Street building) at 6pm. The service will be followed by coffee and cakes and if anyone is in need of transport please let us know.

June 2018
Once again we were pleased to host Flashbacks and this time three classes from Greengate Junior School and two classes from St George’s school came along to share in the activities and learn a little more about the life of Jesus. We are grateful to all the helpers from several Churches and to Ann Hufton and the team who plan and prepare the event to make it so enjoyable and worthwhile for the children.

We are delighted that we are to receive a grant from the Christian Book Promotion Trust (Speaking Volumes scheme) and books are being ordered to present to the Greengate Junior School library.

Everyone had the opportunity to choose a favourite miracle a little while ago in order that we can have a series of sermons. These have now been arranged for five weeks and the details are as follows:-

10th June Jesus walks on water Mark 6: 45-52
17th June Mark 2: 1-12 or Luke 7: 11-17 or John 11: 38-44
24th June Lazarus raised from the dead John 11: 38-44
1st July the man born blind John 9: 1-34
8th July Ten lepers healed Luke17: 11-19

Helpers are needed for the COG coffee morning at Dalton on Saturday June 16th and also gifts for the stalls –including homemade.

Our Strawberry Tea will be held on Wednesday June 27th from 2.30pm. Tickets are now on sale and cost £3.50 which includes afternoon tea. There will be various stalls including homemade goods, books, jigsaws and gifts.

Nicki and Heather would like to thank all who helped support Christian Aid week; by helping with the event in town on May 12th, supplying cakes or tombola prizes, by collecting envelopes or by donating. The town centre event raised £541.06 from the tombola, cake stall, face painting and street collection. Our church envelope collection raised a further £225, with gift aid added this will increase the total to almost £240.
