March has certainly kept us busy with lots of fun activities. The Come and Create for Lent groups have been enjoyed by all those who have attended and found their creative skills in various forms. The last group will be on Tuesday 26th March.

Flashbacks to times with Jesus was attended by around 90 children, as one of the schools unfortunately had to cancel due to staffing issues. The children engaged well with the activities and the children and staff thanked all those involved and there were lots of thanks and pictures posted on the school’s Facebook pages!

The children from Greengate entertained us with their reading skills and World Book Day costumes on the 7th March. There were lots of interesting costumes, though we did have to ask who some of them were!

The United Area Maundy Thursday service is being held at Beacon Hill at 6pm on Thursday 28th March. Please make sure you have let Kathryn Aldred know if you wish to attend and if you have any special dietary requirements as there will be a simple meal shared.

There will be no coffee morning on Good Friday to allow people to attend the Good Friday Service at the Salvation Army. Please note that this has been changed to 12.00 as it will follow a Walk of Witness through the town. This will begin at the Town Hall at 10.30 if you wish to join.

On Easter Sunday we will celebrate together in our Sunday worship. We thought it might be nice to share refreshments at 10.30 on Easter Sunday to allow us all to share a Hot Cross Bun, or biscuits, with our drinks before the service and this would allow more time so we don’t have to rush.

Several of us enjoyed Greengate school’s production of ‘A Hint of Snow White’ on February 6th at 10.00. As always the children were a joy and it was obvious that a lot of hard work had gone in from the staff too.

Our AGM has now been moved to the 10th March, following our service, to allow Kate to attend.

March is going to be a very busy month for us. The Come and Create for Lent groups continue on Tuesday afternoons, Feb 27th, March 5th, 12th, 19th and 26th when you can join us for knitting, colouring, jigsaws, crafting and of course drinks and a biscuit! These sessions will help us reflect and prepare for Easter.

We are hosting Flashbacks on the 4th and 5th March. This is when the children from the local primary schools come to visit us and learn more about the life and times of Jesus. There will be 4 sessions with children from Parkside Academy, Cambridge Primary, St George’s and Greengate Juniors, which is a total of 121 children! There are a variety of activities for the children to take part in and they enjoy some refreshments too.

On Thursday March 7th the children from Greengate will be visiting us to read their books to us. This is always a nice afternoon and will allow time for the children to have a chat with us and some refreshments. Please sign up if you are able to help.

Tim will be coming to our coffee morning on Friday 8th March with a collection of Easter cards and gifts.

On Friday March 22nd Greengate School choir are coming to sing for us. This will be followed by our prayers for our community and the soup lunch. Please remember to sign up for the soup lunch if you can as this helps give us an idea of numbers for catering purposes.
